pornographic or other disreputable sites. Some sites are deleting data or
closing their English pages. As always, you enter all websites at your own
risk. Take precautions: have a good anti-virus program on your
computer, and keep it updated and scanning in the background; do not have shares on your computer that are not
password protected; install a good firewall, especially if you use a broadband
service to connect to the Internet. (Some are recommended on the Defense Page.)
- Usama
Bin Laden
- spiritual leader of al Qaeda network
- Evidence against Usama Bin Laden
- One of bin Laden's four wives said he
moved his family to the home of a tribal chief in a remote corner
of Afghanistan just days before the 9/11 attacks on the
US. After the US took action on 10/7, they were moved to a
mountainous area and lived in a cave for two months. Then
they were taken by bin Laden's son and other tribesmen to Pakistan
and handed over to Pakistani officials. She does not feel
her husband is a terrorist.
- Speaking about fellow terrorist-friends that were
with him on 9/11/01 as the attacks were happening, "They were overjoyed when the first plane hit the
building so I said to them: 'Be patient.'" After each plane
hit, he exclaimed, "Allah Akhbar."
- View MSNBC's targets
and conspirators and other info on bin Laden.
- A video (the "Smoking Gun"
tape) revealing that bin Laden
had prior knowledge of the 9/11 attacks, found in a private
home in Afghanistan, was played on US national news stations.
12/13/01
- Could easily have chemical warfare, and possibly "dirty
bombs" made from nuclear waste, according to Pakistan's
Musharraf. 11/13/01
- Latest
interview with a Pakistani journalist - it's debated whether
this really occurred. Bin Laden claims that he has nuclear
and chemical weapons and will use them if Bush uses them
first. Is the picture doctored? 11/8/01

Jose "Pucho" Padilla also
known as Abdullah al Muhajir, 31, from Brooklyn, NY and Chicago, was
arrested 5/8/02 as an

consulate in Karachi, Pakistan grew suspicious of Padilla while
issuing him a replacement passport. Padilla had gone to
Afghanistan and then Lahore, Pakistan after the 9/11/01 attacks to
study dirty bomb techniques. He had joined a gang as a teenager,
committed robberies, was an accomplice to a murder, moved to Florida,
and became
a Muslim when doing jail time there. Padilla had at least
one accomplice, Benjamin Ahmed Mohammed, recently detained in
Pakistan.

AA Flt 63: December 22, '01 - bombing
attempt
Islamic calendar date: Shawwal 7, 1422 or
10/7/22
- Richard Reid, a British citizen, has strong ties to al Qaeda and Zacharias Moussaoui, awaiting
trial on 6 conspiracy charges related to 9/11 attacks. Finsbury Park Mosque in London appears to be a major al Qaeda
recruitment center.
- Reid,
held without bail, "was charged with intimidation or assault of a flight crew,
which carries up to 20 years in prison. The FBI has indicated that additional charges
are likely." 12/29/01
- He
used e-mail for communications via accounts he set up at
various Cybercafés in Britain, Paris, Brussels, and
Pakistan. Upon missing his first flight attempt, an e-mail
message from a Pakistan address advised him to "go
again". A message he sent his mother appeared written
to be read after his death, claiming responsibility for the
would-be attack. Al Qaeda prefers using Yahoo! and Hotmail
for e-mail.

|
- American Airlines Flight 63 (Boeing 767), departed
from Paris 12/22/01, headed to Miami. It's takeoff was delayed by about
30 minutes due to workers on strike at Charles de Gaulle International
Airport.
- A
passenger carrying a British passport identifying himself as
Richard Colvin Reid attempted to detonate explosives planted in
his shoe
- A Flight Attendant went to investigate after
Reid, sitting in coach just behind the wing, lit a match and was
trying to light a fuse protruding from his shoe. She
attempted to stop him and he bit her.
- 4 passengers were able to subdue him, using their
belts to tie him into his seat. Two French doctors used
sedatives from the airplane's medical kit to sedate him.
Reid's shoe was removed.
- Two F-15 fighter jets escorted the plane to land
at Logan Airport in Boston. A SWAT team stormed the plane
upon arrival. There were 185 passengers and 12 crew.
- The shoes were x-rayed and found to contain C-4, a
military explosive which is also used in fireworks. It's
main ingredient is RDX. C-4 was used in the bombing of the
USS Cole in Yemen in 2000.
- There were about 125 grams of TATP explosive
in each shoe, enough to kill 20 to 25 people in the immediate
vicinity, and bring the plane down. The explosive had
been stabilized, so it could be walked on.
- Reid apparently worshipped at the same Brixton
Mosque in London with Zacarias Moussaoui, who is being held in federal prison in Virginia for his alleged role in
the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The
leader at the mosque feels Reid was probably on a test run.
- Passengers
said they noticed the man prior to the flight - "tall,
roughly bearded, standing alone with a blank look". One
passenger said, "He looked like he was on something. I remember thinking, 'If he's a terrorist,
he's a moron,' because he stood out when I saw him." He had
refused the lunch that was served on board shortly after takeoff.
- "An ounce of the plastic explosive could have been enough to blow out a
window or wall of an airliner at altitude, and then "the air pressure would rip the plane apart," said
Jack O'Keefe, a bomb technician for the Boston police. Hmm,
that sounds a lot like what happened to AA Flt 587 on 11/12/01.
- Bottom
line - airport security cannot detect plastic explosives.
"Airline experts say the only way to prevent a passenger from bringing an explosive on
board is singling out potential terrorists through computerized profiles and then calling
in bomb-sniffing dogs or conducting body and clothing searches."
- A Pakistani, Havis Muhammad Sasa
Iqbal,
deported from Indonesia to Egypt is suspected of involvement based on information collected by Indonesian
intelligence. He was arrested by immigration officials in Jakarta on
January 9 for visa violations, handed over to police and deported to Egypt on
January 11, police and immigration officials told AFP. "He used a fictitious sponsor's name. He had no real
sponsor."
- Five
Pakistanis were arrested in Paris 4/17/02 for helping Reid prepare
for his "shoe bombing" mission.
- In favor of Reid's attorney, US District Judge William Young
threw out one of the nine charges against Reid saying "an airplane
is not a vehicle" under the new anti-terrorism law. The
charge was "attempting to wreck a mass transportation vehicle."

American Taliban
- John Philip Walker Lindh
(aka Abdul Hamid)
- With his parents' blessings, he studied Islam and
the Arabic language in Yemen, then enrolled in an Islamic fundamentalist school in Pakistan
in November 2000.
- Captured by US forces at the end of the uprising
outside Mazar-e-Sharif in the Qalai Janghi fortress 11/27/01.
- 1st held at Camp Rhino, the Marine base in southern
Afghanistan. He was moved to the USS Peleliu in the Arabian
Sea on 12/14/01, then to the USS Bataan in the northern Indian
Ocean on 12/31/01. Back in the US in the Alexandria Detention
Center in Virginia 1/23/02.
- Charged 1/16/02...Criminal
complaints against Walker
- (1) engaging in a conspiracy, while outside the United States, to kill
nationals of the United States outside of the United States, namely,
United States nationals engaged in the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan,
in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2332(b);
- (2) providing, attempting to provide, and conspiring to provide material
support and resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations,
namely, al-Qaeda and Harakat ul-Mujahideen ("HUM"), in violation of
Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2339B and 2; and
- (3) engaging in prohibited transactions with the Taliban, in violation of
Title 31, Code of Federal Regulations, Sections 545.201 and 545.204,
Executive Order # 13129, Title 50, United States Code, Sections 1702
and 1705, and Title 18, United States Code, Section 2.
- His
heart was attached to the Taliban
- Will
escape the death penalty and military tribunal, at most, could
only get life in prison. 1/16/02
- He
knew of 9/11 attacks and still continued to fight for Taliban.
2/6/02
- Indicted
on 10 counts, he will
remain in jail without bond. 2/6/02
- His
e-mails show his disdain for US. 2/7/02
- Pleads "not guilty"; trial scheduled
for November. 2/13/02
- His
teacher at the Madrassa-e-Arabia, Mufti Mohammed Iltimas, was
arrested near the Afghan border in Bannu, Pakistan. Iltimas
said Lindh "was a kind and earnest young man devoted to his religious studies, but who showed the telltale
signs of militancy and even shared some of the radical Taliban interpretations of his new faith."
5/7/02
- The US
government is dropping all terrorism charges against John Walker
Lindh (aka Abdul Hamid). He only faces two charges which
he pleads guilty of: aiding the Taliban and carrying explosives.
At most, he could receive 10 years in prison for each
charge. But don't worry, "US Attorney Paul McNulty said the deal had a
provision allowing the government to seize Lindh and hold him as an
'enemy combatant' if he engages in any 'terrorist' behavior after he is released from
prison."
- "Attorney General John Ashcroft hailed the plea deal as an
important victory in America's war on terrorism. 'By going to Afghanistan and fighting
shoulder to shoulder alongside the Taliban ... Lindh allied himself with terrorists
who reject our values of freedom and democracy and turned his back on the
United States of America.'" Isn't that called
treason?
- Let me flip through Webster's
dictionary. Treason - "1) Violation of allegiance
toward one's country or sovereign, esp. the betrayal of one's
own country by waging war against it or by consciously and
purposely acting to aid its enemies. 2) Betrayal of
confidence or trust." I thought the US government
only offered death to those guilty of treason. Guess
that was only back when this country believed in
something. 7/15/02

Shortly after becoming a "detainee" 11/01

|
On Trial in the US
- Zacarias Moussaoui (aka Shaqil and Abu Khalid al
Sahrawi)
- Of Moroccan descent, was born in southwestern
France 5/30/68.
- Was at an Afghanistan al Qaeda training camp in
1998, and was place on a militant islamic watch list by France's
internal security service in 1999.
- Flew from London to Oklahoma in February 2001,
and signed up for flight lessons at the Airman Flight School in
Norman, where he took lessons until May.
- Signing his e-mail correspondence as "Zuluman Tango Tango",
Moussaoui
was considered a poor student when, even after 57 hours of
flight lessons still could not fly solo, something other students
did in 1/3 the time. He left for Minnesota in June where he
hoped to train on Boeing flight simulators. He was detained
there on 8/17/01 on immigration charges after arousing suspicions by
saying he wanted to learn how to fly jetliners but didn't care
about learning how to take off or land. He was still in jail
on 9/11. He would have been the 20th hijacker, as a
replacement for Ramzi Binalshibh.
- Being
charged with conspiracy for terrorism, aircraft piracy, destruction of
aircraft, use of weapons of mass destruction, murder and destruction of
property. 12/12/01
- Pleads "In the name of Allah, I do not have anything to plead.
I enter no
plea. Thank you very much," which was
recorded as an innocent
plea. Read full
indictment. 1/2/02
- Wanted his trial televised - will not be
1/18/02
- US
plans to seek death penalty, 3/19/02.
- Sues
because he is too oppressed and has needs, like wanting a
bigger cell with more furniture, computer, printer, legal
materials, more telephone access and non-recorded conversations,
freedom from prison searches, and meet with people other than his attorneys.
4/12/02
- He
can have access to a computer, but not in his cell.
Prosecutors "noted an al Qaeda training manual included a section on secret writing
with invisible ink and use of codes to pass on secret messages outside
a prison. The manual instructs terrorists to continue their holy war
from prison and to 'complain [to the court] of mistreatment while in
prison.'"
- He claims the only thing that annoys him is
that there is no window in his cell. He told US District Judge Leonie
Brinkema, "I pray to
Allah for the destruction of the United States of America..."
and for "the destruction of the Jewish people and state."
4/22/02
- Wants

- Sami
Al-Arian, a computer science professor at the University of South
Florida, has been under investigation since 1995. 3/20/02
- Al-Arian and his brother-in-law, Mazen Al-Najjar,
founded an Islamic think tank and charity, World and Islam Studies Enterprises,
at USF. The organization was raided by the FBI in 1995, was
found to have terrorist links, and is now defunct. A former
head of WISE, Ramadan Adbulah Shallah, left the group that same
year and " later resurfaced as head of the terrorist organization, the Palestinian Islamic
Jihad." Al-Arian was placed on paid leave for two
years, but was reinstated at the University in 1998. (Al-Najir
had taught Arabic at USF, was jailed for 3+ years for
terrorist-related charges, released in 2000, arrested again in
11/01, deported 8/29/02.)
- Al-Arian,
a Palestinian Muslim, has lived in the US since 1975 and has
